Windows 10: File Picker UI Host not responding with OneDrive

A new problem: trying to attach a file that is located on my OneDrive to an email. Every time I try the File Picker fails to open and my browser (Edge or Chrome) freezes. Trying to close the File Picker window results in a modal message "File Picker UI Host is not responding". Choosing the "Close the Program" option displays the Hang On reporting the problem to Microsoft" followed by the window closing. The only way to unfreeze the browser is with Task Manager.


I tried marking the file "Always keep on this device" to see if having it physically on my local drive made a difference. Still got the error. Then I tried another, and another file - all located in OneDrive - and had mixed results. PDF, .txt and .xlsx files worked fine, but all MS Word .docx files failed.

But, if I place the .docx file I want to attach in some folder that is not managed by OneDrive everything works fine:


I ran SFC /scannow and one file was found to be corrupted and repaired. Here's the log entry:

That did not fix the problem. So, I ran DISM /RepairHealth and it completed okay. Reran SFC /scannow and no errors. But I still cannot attach any MS Word .docx file that is on my OneDrive.


Running Windows 10 Home: Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763 with all updates installed.

Failure occurs with Edge and Chrome browser.

Mail is Google using GMAIL client.

FILE PICKER UI HOST DO NOT RESPOND

Hello all,

It's been a little while that each time i want to attach a file to a mail everything bug and the programm close (either on hotmail, gmail or even skype)

The message FILE PICKER UI HOST DO NOT RESPOND appear.

I check and all my programs are updated.

I would be very grateful if someone have a solution.

Why does the file picker ui host show up on the Task Manager. I have many of them? Should I end task on each?
