Windows 10: File Recovery

I recently was forced to update a windows update i have them disabled but they get forced through anyways and all of my drivers got deleted amd my resolution was reset its at 1024 x 768 from 1080p and i cant change it and my files were all gone the drives all partitioned and i was wondering if there was a free way to get the files that i lost in the partitions i cant access back without having to pay an extremely insane price just to use the software once and never use it again the files are all really old and i have tried multiple apps diskpart etc none of the windows stuff even sees

[HELP]Image recovery issues

Guys i am trying to fix my cousins Asus Eee netbook. It has a backup image file that is partitioned on the hard drive but when I go to use it the app will run through a few steps and stop. It is running Vista . Any suggestions?
