    File Sharing after Windows 10 2004 update


    My Windows 10 desktop was recently updated to version 2004 OS build 19041.

    Since then the desktop and my Windows 10 laptop which has not been updated to version 2004 have been unable to share files over my wifi network as before.

    I've tried re-setting up the file sharing as I did when first using Windows 10. I've also tried various recommendations from the Microsoft support website such as ensuring various things are set to automatic, but nothing seems to work.

    Currently the problem manifests itself with an error message that the machine does not have permission to view the requested directory, but the permissions seem ok to me.

    Can anyone help?

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    • Have you made any changes on your PC?
    • Did you perform any Windows update recently?
    • Are you connected to Domain network?

    File Sharing after Windows 10 2004 update

    Windows 10 forced download

    ^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
