Windows 10: File sharing - cannot grant logon type to WIFI computer

Computer B can see Computer A shared folder in Network but cannot access the shared folder.


The error msg is : Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at the computer.


I went thru many step-by-step guidelines including the one suggested on the forum,

I confirmed:

1. in Control Panel/ User Accounts/ Manage Windows Credentials, I add Computer B's User name, password. For Network address, I use the Computer B name

2. the username and password are correct and can be used to log on Computer B.


Some times, I got error of Incorrect user name and password when I click open the Computer A shared Folder In Computer B's File Explorer#Network


Computer A cannot discover Computer B shared folder.


Both computers can ping each other in cmd mode.


Running the toubleshooter at Troubleshoot/ Additonal troubleshooters/ Shared Folders in both Computer A & B : could't identify the problem.


How can I further trouble shoot the file sharing issue?

Original Title: Computers not seen/won't connect on network

Configured a router as a switch - all working fine on the network. Problem has occurred and seems to coincide with latest update KB3133431. Random occurrences between 2 computers, sometimes each other seen, sometimes not. Now seems to be a permanent problem.
When seen cannot connect/fileshare. Error given: Logon Failure: "The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer" or occasionally protocols missing.

Network discovery/file and printer sharing on.

Computers seen as media devices do connect and files can be accessed. All on the same workgroup.

A networked printer can be used by both problem computers.

Another computer (not updated) has joined the network and can be accessed.

Any suggestions please?

I am an unpaid volunteer providing PC support for small public library with 4 Win10 PCs networked. We were sharing files using Homegroup until 1803 upgrade. Renaming PCs and changing some settings, I have been able to get all but one PC to share. The
one in question cannot access any of the others shared files but all the others can access the shared files on it. I can ping the others from the uncooperative PC and all PCs show up on the Network page. When I try to open a window to one of the other PCs,
I get the message "user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer". I am out of ideas on how to fix. Would appreciate any thoughts on what to do next.
