  1. File Sharing with 2 x W10 PC's

I think I have done everything correctly ....but..

I can see the ICONs for both PCs in the NETWORK sharing Explorer window on PC1

I can see the ICON for one PC in the NETWORK sharing Explorer window on PC2 - I only see the ICON for PC1 I am on PC2 but no icon showing

I can do all I expect to do from PC1 to items on PC2 - i.e. double click, see another folder, see a file, edit a file and save a file I check on PC2 and the changes take place

When I double click the PC1 icon computer name for PC1 on PC2 no icon for PC2 showing then I can see my shared folders in this case MyFiles but now get a message

'Windows cannot access \\computer name for PC1\Myfiles'

You do not have permission to access \\computer name for PC1\Myfiles.

Contact your network administrator to request access

The folder is shared , everyone is allowed access and full control provided so I think

PS Just done a new install of W10 Pro today on PC2

    :)

Android to PC file Share - Security at risk

    Hello Anuj Indoria,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To address the issue, kindly help us with the following questions.

    1. If the computer is connected via cable, may I know how the phone is connected to the computer?
    2. If the computer is connected via Wi-Fi, may I know how the phone is connected to the computer?
    3. When you connect the computer via Wi-Fi, will it asks for the Wi-Fi credentials or the computer credentials?
I would recommend you to check with the below suggestions and see if it works.

Method 1: Turn on password protected sharing.

If the password protected sharing is on, only people who have a user account and password on that computer can access shared files attached to that computer and the Public folders. To restrict other people access, you must turn on password protected sharing.
    To do that

    • Go to search window and type Managed advanced sharing settings and click on it.
    • Click the down arrow on the right of All Networks to expand the settings.
    • Select Turn on password protected sharing from the list and click on
      Save changes.

Method 2: Create a shared folder.

You can share files between your android and PC and keep it encrypted by creating a shared folder from the following steps.

    • Create a shared folder and assign a name to it.
    • In ES File Explorer on your phone, hit the globe icon which is on the upper-left corner and navigate the network - LAN.
    • Click Search on the menu from the bottom to search for networks (Make sure to connect the phone and PC till you get the IP Address of your PC).
    • Click the icon and add your Username and Password.
    • After creating a shared folder, you can easily add sharing files back and forth using ES File explorer.

    Hope it helps.

  4. File Sharing with 2 x W10 PC's

    W7 access of W10 share

On my home network W10 systems can access shares on other W10 systems, and W10 can access W7 shares. However, when W7 tries to access a W10 share, it wants a network password. I give it the user/pswd I use to log in on the W10 but that doesn't help.

    I found one place:
Cannot access Shared folder in Windows 10 via Windows 7 PC
that suggested setting HKLM...Lsa\restrictanonymous to 1
but that didn't seem to help.

    TIA!
