File Sharing Won't Stay On, Net View not working, Network not present

I have been tearing my hair out lately over the networking of our 4 Win10 boxes, 2 laptops and our NAS.

The version of Windows on this box (and at least one other, if not all of them) is 1803, 17134.165 and should include the latest update.

I have ONE, ONLY, out of the 4 desktops, 2 laptops, and an NAS which seems to work somewhat correctly. I can use Net View to see the other boxes from that box, including our NAS, on the network, but Net View will not work on any other box.

When I attempt to backup to the NAS, I get "The network is not present or not started."

When I attempt to set File and Printer Sharing ON, on the present box (from which I am typing this), and then hit Save Changes. Nothing happens except that the window closes. Reopening Change Advanced sharing options shows File and Printer Sharing OFF, no matter how many times I try to do this. It simply will NOT stay ON.

Secondly, when I check the Workstation Service in services, it is not running and when I attempt to start it, I get an Error 1075, and also Computer Browser is not running either, and when I attempt to start THAT, I get an Error 1068.

I have not yet searched for those error messages on the net.

When I attempt to do a Net View in an elevated command prompt, I get "blah blah error 2184"

I have been searching on this problem for days, and have tried multiple "solutions" but none have worked.

I have not yet examined the other boxes very closely except this one, so far, since I figure if I can get this one to work, the same solution MAY work with the others.

BTW, I am a retired IT Professional of over 30 years experience, so I, at least, speak "technospeak".

But at this point, I feel like a noob... :-(

    Anyone?

  2. How could this be? File transfer wizard won't work

all right... networking is strange thing... go to the old computer and look at all your "file sharing" setups. Then you have to mirror the specs onto the new one.
If they say you dont have the ability to have access, that would mean that you are using a log in type of windows.. go into your Admin. and have the ability to share files from all accounts... if you don't have this problem, then just go to network settings and make it to where you can share that folder... Then when you have it, throw a pic or something into the folder.

    Step by Step.
    1. Look at admin. to see if your allowing file sharing.
    2. Make sure you are file sharing for everyone in your network.
    3. Go into your network folder and see if you are allowing through that.
    4. Drop something in your share folder
    5. see if it is visible for both computers.

If you get stuck just pm me.
