    Hello everyone,

    I've been using a file shredder for some time called Eraser.

    Recently, I started using a file recovery program called Recuva.

    I'm not, however, interested in these programs specifically; I'm interested in how these types of programs work.

    Recuva is able to show a list of erased files on a drive.

    Many are unrecoverable because they have been overwritten.

    But, Recuva still shows the name of the overwritten file.

    Some of these files have "normal" names like...

    Theres a file shredder in SpyBot - search and destroy! It should be quite effective!

    As the title states. I need a file shredder. Whats a good FREE file shredder? Gotta be something other than TuneUp Utilities. I have found separate apps that replace everything I used in that other than the file shredder.

    If its pure x64, its a major bonus.

    Help! File recovery software?

    Anyone have any suggestions on good software to recovery as much data as possible from an accidentally erased hard drive? Workin on a client pc and it seems he took it to geek squad once and they may have erased the hdd. Preferably a freeware one but ill pay if necessary. This guy has tons of photos from his tour in Iraq and they are priceless! if i can recover at least some it will be worthwhile for him....and me!
