File transfer rates less than 1mb/s between internal drives

After spending hours trawling the internet and microsoft forums for a solution I have finally found one.

In short the problem is incredibly slow transfer speeds between two internal hard drives. It starts off for each file at a speed I would expect, over 50mbps, then quickly with a couple of seconds or so drops to as low as 355kbps. Almost as if it's capped. The read speeds are also incredibly slow when playing media files. The performance shows the disk use at 100% but the speed again less than 1mbps causing media to buffer constantly. There are no other processes drawing on the disk. it's not a system disk

Like I say, i have trawled around microsoft forms for answers, To recap I have defragged disks didn't need doing, switched off antivirus, disabled windows defender, tested drives, scanned for errors, changed networks, changed sata cables. Pretty much everything that's been suggested. Over the last 12 months. It seems lots of users have this problem. What is obvious is that all potential solutions appear to be posted by amateur users. When I say amateur what I actually mean is Non Microsoft techies. For all of the efforts that people across many forums have posted and suggested I want to thank all of you for your time and effort. I know you all do this off your own backs and aside from this issue, I have often found working solutions. I have yet to see any real solution posted by a Microsoft employee aside from run system check and troubleshooter. I did. Guess what - no issues :-.

Today I'm happy to report I solved the problem. I bought a Chromebook........and an external drive.

    :)

Slow internal hard drive transfer rates

    Hi,

Please be informed that data transfer rates from hard drive to a computer or to other hard drive depends on several factors like size for data that being transferred; other tasks running in the background; RAM etc. You may install all pending Windows updates.
Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

Also follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter
    on the computer:

    • Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
    • Click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
    • Click on System Maintenance option.
    • Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.
Do let us know the performance of the computer. Thank you.

    Need Help Files Transfer

I have a computer running Windows XP Home Edition. That computer has two internal HDDs:

The 1st HDD is C:\ that running Windows. And it has 20GB total of capacity.
The 2nd HDD is D:\ that is empty. And it has 90GB total of capacity.

The C:\ drive is almost run out of space (full). Is there a way I can transfer everything in the C:\ drive to the D:\ drive and begin to use the D:\ drive from there on as primary drive?
Can the Windows Files Transfer feature in XP transfer everything I have in C:\ to D:\? If it cannot, then which way can I use to perform the above step?

    Thank you.

File transfer rates less than 1mb/s between internal drives

VERY Slow transfer rates between separate internal HDD's

I've got a 2Tb disk which is almost full. I'm trying to copy the contents to a 3Tb disk, however, i'm getting ridiculously slow transfer rates. I've tried cloning, and it gives me estimated completion of cloning of over 30 days.

I've tried Teracopy, and it gives me similar estimates. I'm copying an Itunes archive full of movie files typically around 3Gb - 5Gb in size.

I have done some benchmarking tests, and it seems that my destination disk has some issues.

    Source Drive: (2Tb):

File transfer rates less than 1mb/s between internal drives [IMG]

    Destination Drive: (3Tb):

File transfer rates less than 1mb/s between internal drives [IMG]

Clearly there are some issues here, but I'm not sure how to proceed. The drive is newly formatted/partitioned.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Many thanks

    Bob
