  1. File type in File Manager is shown in chinese

I'm on Windows 11, and when I use file manager all the .jpg image files show the item type in Chinese. They still open normally as jpg's.. This of more of an inconvenience and annoyance rather than a critical fault but I would like to fix this. I am fully updated to latest versions. All security software is fully updated and working. I have run diagnostics and SFC . All settings for language are English UK and location correct. No additional language packs are installed. Please save my sanity.

    :)

  2. srt file type not shown on default types list

Thanks Dave, but i'm affraid that is not fixing my issue.

I have already tried that, nothing happens, the file is opened in notepad normally, but isn't remain asocciated as it should.

the .SRT option isn't shown on the list, as i wanted to associate those file types using the applet.

Can I add the SRT file type on this list? ( i sniped the screen for you )

Don't use batch files very much but one I find useful is for creating a list of files in a directory.
Just copy the text below into Notepad and save as Filelist.bat

    dir /a /-p /o:gen >filelist.txt

When you run it from a folder it will create a Filelist.txt file,in the same folder, that lists all the files in that folder.Useful when you are too lazy to type all the files out yourself.

    File manager application software

Windows default file manager application has some limitations. I'm looking for a free file manager application which will have the features of the default file explorer as well as the following -

    1. Total size (currently it is available by right clicking the folder) will be shown for the folders as well. Currently only file size is shown.
    2. It will be able to detect duplicate files (all types images, video, audio, docs, etc). Will show the location of each files.
    3. Duplicate folder detection and deletion option. Duplicate file deletion option.
    4. Similar folder (contains similar files/contents; common files/contents between the folders) detection and folder marge option.
