  1. FileMenu Tools?

I recently discovered FileMenu Tools, which seems to do exactly what I want. However, every download site I have found ends up with the file being blocked. Is there a safe source?

    :)

file explorer crashes when right click on folder and hovering over file menu tools

    tx for the reply.

I didn't install the software (laptop is from work), but it is 5.8.1 version. That could be a problem. But a collegue also has the same laptop, windows 10, same filemenu tools version and he doesn't have the problem. But it is definitly better to use the
latest version. I'm gonna try that!

With my previous latop (windows 7) I could use filemenutools and files explorer without a problem. With this laptop I got it with filemenu tools already on it.

    "Working on it" not working

Pardon me if I misunderstand "Quick Access". I am not the sharpest awl in the toolshed, but to me "Quick Access" indicates that Windows keeps a log of sorts of the most recently used folders or items. This should eliminate crawling through 300GB of data,
and look in the most recently accessed places first. And yes, I did tell it what to look for. It was a folder I had worked on about six hours prior, without doing much on the PC in between. The "Recent Places" in Windows 7 works without having to "work
on" it. My office PC has a 1 TB drive more than 80% filled, and there Windows 7 finds the requested folder very fast. Ah, if my memory serves me right, MS does well in going backwards with its new features.

    FileMenu Tools?

There are a couple of reasons for this: either it is unsafe or it is OK but not many people download it. @Superfly had the same issue with his app to show your Windows key. (Showkey - Windows 10 Forums). After a while (lots of people downloaded it) it was seen as OK.

I downloaded it anyway (just for you) and the main issue that VirsusTotal reports is OpenCandy which isn't terrible. You can say no if you want.

The main problem is it doesn't do anything interesting anyway and there is therefore no point in downloading it.

What was it that you wanted to do? Everything it claims to assist you with you can do anyway without it.

  5. I want to remove some entries from some context menus, add "Edit with Photoshop" to context menus on image files ...

    That sort of thing.

The portable version has no such problem. In the download page you can see: "In order to keep this app for free and also to reward the effort spent in the application, the installer of this application uses OpenCandy"

    I use it, it's great.

    Hi nigelmercier,

Ccleaner has an option to remove some context menu entries. (Just figured there's a decent chance you might already have it anyhow)

Also, there's Ultimate Windows Context Menu Customizer, which allows you to add any .exe files to it (Icons too for easier navigation). I noted that you wanted to add Photoshop, which is what I did, however I use a different graphics program. You can also designate if you want them positioned along the top, middle or bottom.

Example of mine, showing the added .exe files.

    EDIT:
Also, I just tested the link above for FileMenu Tools, and I was also able to download it with no problem as well. Furthermore, there was no WOT (Web-Of-Trust) warnings to indicate any issue with that site.

    FileMenu Tools?

Sorry for the late reply, just something that came up recently on the Norton forums where ShowKey was intially flagged as PUP until it was whitelisted by Norton.
    ShowKeyPlus | Norton Community

Also Smartscreen will block unsigned apps until it's whitelisted after enough usage... not sure exactly how that's monitored tho'.
