  1. Filename is Randomly Highlighted while Renaming Files in OneDrive Synced Folders

Hi all,I've been having this issue in windows 10 version 21H1 when renaming a file that's synced to a OneDrive folder. Often times, I'll append a filename with a couple of characters to denote revisions. While I'm renaming the file, the entirety of the file gets highlighted, and as I add these few characters, the original filename gets wiped. For example, attempting to change test.txt to test-1.txt represents the cursor, bold green represents highlighted text:Start with: test.txtRename file press F2: test.txtArrow right to move cursor to end of filename: test.txtStart adding characters

  2. Cannot rename files and folders in OneDrive

    Hi,

Failure to rename the folders stored in your OneDrive folder may indicate a possible sync error. As an initial step to refresh OneDrive, you can unlink the account by performing the steps provided on this

    link
to re-sync your folders. Once your done, check if you encounter the same error.

In addition, sign-in to your account through
    onedrive.live.com
and check if you can rename folders through the web.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

  3. Renaming files in OneDrive while it is syncing is frustrating because it highlights the entire name of the file. How to avoid this?

    Hi,

When I rename a file in OneDrive while it is still syncing with OneDrive, the entire name gets highlighted. If I press the forward arrow key to add something to the file's name, it again gets highlighted. And it keeps happening several times.

My work is such that it requires me to edit a file in Word Doc and then rename it. I have to do this for many files in quick succession. So this "automatic highlighting" is really really frustrating.

Anything I can do about this?

    Thanks,

    Vividh.

Filename is Randomly Highlighted while Renaming Files in OneDrive Synced Folders

Searching for a string within a filename in File Explorer

I want to search a folder for filenames that contain the word "Committee". When in File Explorer, I type "Committee" into the Search field and hit enter. It finds (highlights in yellow) files that start with "Committee" but not the ones where "Committee"
is embedded in the file name. For example:

    • "Committee-Mission-Roles-and-Responsibilities" = finds it and highlights "Committee" in yellow
    • "19510701ListClubCommitteesReportDirectorsBW" = Lists this file but does not highlight "Committee" in yellow
    • "20150526MinutesBoard" = Lists this file because the word "Committee" is in the text of the file.
Is there a way to do a search that lists only filenames that contain the word "Committee"? I don't want files listed if the word "Committee" is not part of the filename.
