Windows 10: Files and folders with $ in the name

My C: drive SSD was replaced by Dell. All of my applications and files were lost. I can reinstall all the applications, but the files I saved at S3 are funky to use. Many folders have "$" appended to the folder name. Then under the folder many files also have "$" appended to the file name. When I click on a file name, expecting to see for example a .PDF file, instead I get a folder with a long number, and when I click on that, I finally get the PDF file. None of my applications can figure this out. I have tried turning "Show file extensions" on and off; I have tried turning "Show hi

Is there a bat file to generate the list of file names that I have inside a folder?
If possible you can help me to do it or give me suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Carlos: Thanks for your reply. What you suggest is what I have been doing. I search for folders with a specific name and get a list. Then I have to search each folder for a specific file. So it's a two step search and that's what I was trying to avoid.

I assume there are applications out there that allow for an "AND" search in Windows. I'll try that approach.
