  1. Files are automatically downloading to Windows from cloud storage, filling up hard disk

On my Windows 11 laptop, I use three types of cloud storage: OneDrive, Synology Drive and a university based cloud storage. OneDrive works as expected, no problems. For the other two cloud storage, I have the settings set to "on demand sync". However, many files download themselves without being opened. No matter how much I "free up space", the files keep re-downloading. My hard disk keeps getting full. The files that are repeatedly downloaded seem to be almost all Audio and Video files. The automatic downloading only happens when my laptop is plugged in.Even stranger, the same files are always

    :)

Storage Organization in Windows 11 with NO CLOUD

My PC has 2 storage drives flash and disk. The flash is for programs (C drive) the disk (larger) is for Data. How can you install windows to map the data files like (Documents and Pictures) under the D drive and the programs to be installed on C. AGAIN NO CLOUD!!!!! I see many systems like this it should be not that difficult to do. I would love suggestions.

  3. How to remove external hard disk from storage pool on Windows 10

    Hi Velen,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern about removing the external hard disk from storage pool, we will help you with this issue.

Try the below steps to: Remove a physical disk by using Windows PowerShell
    and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows
key from the keyboard, type Windows PowerShell and select
      Run as administrator.

    • Enter the command replacing <diskname> with the disk name:

      • Set-PhysicalDisk -FriendlyName <diskname> -Usage Retired
(If the pool is clustered, you will need to run this command on the cluster node which has the cluster resource for the pool online.)

    3. Prior to performing step 5, you must wait for all active repair jobs to complete. To monitor the status of repair jobs, type the following command:
    Get-StorageJob

    4. Type the following command: Remove-PhysicalDisk -FriendlyName <diskname>

    5. Physically disconnect the old disk.

    cloud storage

    Hi Merickson,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about cloud storage.

Yes, you may actually access the files that you saved on the cloud storage on other devices. That is actually the main purpose of cloud storage. First, you would need to identify what cloud storage service did you use (OneDrive or Google Drive). Then on your
Windows 10 laptop, you would just need to use the same application and sign-in using the same account to access the documents.

I hope my suggestions help you. If you need further assistance please do reply back and I will respond as quickly as possible. Have a nice day.

    Thanks,

    Wilfred P.
