    I recently placed a new hard drive on my computer. The C: drive failed. I have another drive D: where all of my personal files are kept.Now, I have the files that stay in the downloads folder when dragged and dropped.Example: Downloads folder in C:Nissan.PDF is then dragged and dropped to D:\Users\xxx\Documents\Automobile Expenses\2017 Nissan Rogue SportThe dragged file stays in c: original and in D:\Users\xxx\Documents\Automobile Expenses\2017 Nissan Rogue Sportas an original. Now Nissan.PDF is in both locations instead of exiting c: downloads. It never leaves the c: downloads folder, and

    Drag and Drop

    Hi Charles,

    the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

    In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

    Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

    My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

    Hi,

    I am Vinu, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I will try to help you with this issue.

    Drag and Drop will never delete the source file in case of Windows, it will copy the file to the new location, but also keeping the source in the card. But when you directly drag and drop to some other application, there is a risk, that application will not
    create a copy of your file, it might add your file in the card to a new project and directly start working on that.

    What I would suggest, in case of these important files is, first copy and paste them from your card to a folder in windows, say, working directory. Then add the files to other programs from there. Hope this helps.

    Unable to drag and drop files

    I use MacOS Catalina 10.15. and have an issue with drag and drop files into the OneDrive sidebar folder in Finder. I've given access to my entire disk in Security & Privacy, but it still won't work.

    Any suggestions?
