Windows 10: Files are lost after I returned them to their original location

    I was trying to organise my files when I decided against a change, I used the CTRL Z shortcut to return some files to their original location, however when I did this I saw the files disappear from their new folder but they never appeared in the original one that I was attempting to send them back to. then I sent the new now empty folder to the recycle bin, however when I checked the recycle bin for the files and the folder wasn't there - I have plenty of room on a Healthy SSD over 130GB - I defiantly sent the folder to the recycle bin as I had used the same key many times delete- I have

    Hi Everyone,



    I have a user within the organisation that has moved a file from a folder to a newly created folder.



    They seem to have lost track of where they had originally transferred the file from (original folder location).



    Is there a way I could find out where the original file location?

  3. Pictures cannot be sorted returns back to original

    Can you state what you mean by " icon list "?

    As per the information that you have provided, I understand that you are unable to sort your photos and they keep on returning back to the original state. If that is the case I would suggest that you try to arrange the pictures by using the
    Group By feature and check if they return back to the original state. Follow the steps below to do so.

    1. Open the folder that contains your pictures.

    2. Click on the View tab located on top of the folder.

    3. Click on Group By and select the type you want to sort your pictures in and check

    I suggest you to refer the link provided below and check if it helps.

    The files & folders from the previous operating system after the upgrade to Windows 10 might have been saved in the
    windows.old folder. Check if the lost files and folders are present in
    windows.old folder by following the steps below:



    Step 1: Using Cortana




    • Press Windows icon key on the keyboard and type
      windows.old in the search box.

    • Select the search result which shows folder and drive location of the program.

    • Follow the file/folder path to check the contents of the same.


    Step 2: Using Windows explorer




    • Press Windows logo + E keys on the keyboard to open Windows Explorer.

    • Click on This PC option from the left side panel of the window.

    • Type windows.old in the Search This PC
      box located at the top right corner of the window.

    • Follow the file/folder path to check the contents of the same.
