Windows 10: Files Explorer on Windows 10 - Microsoft Word Is Preventing Me From Using Documents

I do not use Microsoft Office and never plan on registering. I don't know why I have applications converted to Microsoft Word, but it is taking away my rights to use the text I have previously typed. Result; you are taking away my permissions to my documents.


This may not be purposefully occurring, however, I assure you that I have never used Microsoft Office and never have I opened my documents using Microsoft Word. I do not understand why this is happening.


So unless you can provide a reasonable solution for this, my first assumption is that these occurrences are only signs you want money from me. Even if this doesn't change, I will still refuse to purchase and register an account for Microsoft Office.

In the past year or so I've noticed another quirk where a downloaded Word document or other Office document won't open regardless of the steps I take to open them. After deleting the file and re-downloading the document it opens without issue. I've been using Chrome almost exclusively so I'm not sure if I've experienced this with Explorer or Firefox. So one last step to try might be to obtain another copy of your files if they are being generated and fetched externally to your system (ie. try downloading them again as the file might have simply been corrupted).

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
