Windows 10: Files I know are on hard drive not showing up in Windows Explorer

I'm trying to transfer my entire music library from an old laptop to an external hard drive but windows explorer only displays half of the files in my Music folder. But when I open iTunes or Media Player, all my music files are available for play. For example, I can play any of my Prince songs on iTunes but when I go to the music folder, and search for Prince, nothing comes up. I've tried simply click-and-dragging the music folder to the external drive but it only transferred half of my library.

External Hard Drive

Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Stored files in Hard Drive

You can use Windows search. Just search for *.* on a desired drive. When list is done just arrange them by size LOL.

You can do it via command line as well and make an output text file showing files and their sizes (but without arrangement)

 

Windowed Hard Drives

On the contrary, showing off "slow tech" by adding a window to a hard drive is a "dumb" idea. Do you really want to be showing off a whole "7200-10000 RPM of power" or would you rather show off a plain SSD drive? (If you really desire to "show off")

Adding any window to any drive is just stupid. I just suggested an easier option for you since manufactures don't put windows on the latest hard drives.
