    Files missing from File Explorer Search Results


    I recently migrated from an older Windows 10 computer to a newer Windows 11 computer. On the new device, I cannot get search to work correctly. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I know of and nothing seems to work.The problem is that .DOC files are not returned in some directories including the one that is most important for me to search. That same directory does return .PDF files, but no .DOC files.More details:c:\Users\XYZ\Desktop Desktop and subfolders are selected in the Indexing Options -> Indexed Locations Advanced Options - File Types doc is selected and has "Index Propert

    File Explorer Search: Results not opening


    When I use File Explorer Search in my user folders, the results appear to have lost their association and do not open when I click them.

    Before search:

    Note the icons have gone, the folder is not listed. Clicking the file does zilch.

    Search for Missing files in File Explorer

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I understand that you are looking for a file named “Class” with the length of the file. However, currently File Explorer doesn’t have the option to search the files using the length.

    You can follow the steps mentioned below to search for a file in File Explorer using the Size, Kind of file and other options.

    1. Press and hold Windows key + E to open
      File Explorer.
    2. Click on This PC on the left pane.
    3. Press F3 key to open Search options.
    4. You can select the Size,
      Kind       of file and other options and then, search for the file.

    No Instant Search Result in File Explorer

    When searching in file explore search results are displayed right below the search bar in a list, but only when you hit Enter, the complete result is displayed.

    How do i restore it so i have Instant Search Results.
