Windows 10: Files missing from my laptop after deleting OneDrive

I received alerts that I am no longer receiving emails on my outlook as my OneDrive is full. So I turned off the back-up settings on OneDrive, and then I logged in to OneDrive and deleted the desktop folder and cleared the recycle bin. That resolved the issue and I started receiving emails again.However, a day later today, I turned on my laptop and all my files on the desktop are gone!! Why did this happen and how do I restore the files?

Photos deleted from gallery, deleted on Onedrive

It sounds like your photos deleted from gallery have also been deleted on Onedrive.

First I suggest you try to check maybe the Deleted Galary on your phone to see if it's possible to get deleted photos back. Then you may try to visit the OneDrive website to see if the photos you synced are there. If not, you may follow the steps listed on this link | Find lost or missing files in OneDrive (microsoft.com) to see if they could be found back.

Cannot delete any OneDrive file

Hello! I cannot delete ANY Onedrive file on my desktop. Nothing happens when I press delete. I can move the file to another non-One Drivefolder and delete it there. I can also delete a Onedrive file from a laptop linked via local network. I am logged on
as Admin.

Grateful for any suggestions.
