I recently upgraded my monitor from 24' 768x1360 to 27' 1080x1290. Therefore, my desktop is way larger than before. Files that were near the right corner previously, now are closer to the middle, as expected. The thing is, I frequently try to move those files near the new corner, yet changes are reverted after rebooting or shutting down.Things to note:I've disabled OneDrive's access of the Desktop a week ago, but it didn't cause any problems I can think of.My Windows is fully updated.I tried changing the scale of the UI from settings, but reverted the changes the morning after. Tried and reboo

Cannot move desktop to a new location in Windows 7

I've been trying to move the desktop location on a machine that runs Windows 7.

On my own machine (Windows 10), there's a "Location" tab in the desktop properties.

That tab is missing on the machine that runs Windows 7.

I came across the suggestion below in other threads, but it is not working for me. Any other suggestions on how to change to location or how to get the location tab to show?

    Thanks!

    1. Open the Registry editor (Regedit.exe)
    2. Browse to the location:

HKCU > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > User Shell Folders.
    3. In the right window pane select the required value (i.e. Desktop).
    4. Insert the new location for the folder to be stored.
    5. Close the registry editor and log off

      --> Didn't work.

Retain File Names no name mangling when move/ cut from Recycle Bin

Retain File Names without name mangling when Move/ Cut select Files from Recycle Bin to a selected location
Move/ Cut select Files from Recycle Bin to a selected location retaining File Names without name mangling?
"Windows Behavior" when cutting/ pasting or drag-dropping the files to some location/ folder, all the names are mangled.
Names are mangled like this: $REA9O58.xxx
The only option Recycle Bin gives is:

    • Restore
(do not wish for files to go back and mixup with other files in Original Folder) or
    • Cut
(When pasted or Drag & Dropped to new location, the original name is mangled).

Any way around this to put select files into other location folders from Recycle Bin?

    PS: OS: Win 8.1 x64
