Windows 10: Files on the computer is gone Downloads, Desktop, Docs ..but still there?

I started my computer as usual, but something went wrong when I typed my lock screen password correctly, the computer just booted as it would after clearing all drives. Funny thing is, the drives on my SSD and my HDD are identical nothing changed or deleted . All my files saved in Onedrive Desktop, Documents, Pictures are all still there under the Onedrive folder in file explorer. Even my Recycle Bins the same still some trash as before whatever happened.But all my downloads are gone. Under normal folders Desktop, Docs , ...etc. all is gone . I even checked "Uninstall a program"

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Opening a Word doc in a Second Desktop from Explorer

To clarify, the problem is that whenever I try to open another word doc in file explorer in a second desktop it goes back to the desktop in which there already is a word doc open and opens the requested doc there, instead of in the second desktop.

I have tried the repair and it did not help. Any other suggestions?

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
