Windows 10: Files only download in notepad

When I try to download some mods for my games every time I download something it comes in a notepad thing and not as a file or zip-file. I have tried everything I could find on the internet but can’t seem to figure it out

How do I download a copy of Notepad?

Notepad automatically opening when ABA file downloaded

Hi Fiona,

We suggest that you follow these steps to uncheck the Always open this type of file:

• Right click on an ABA file.
  
• Hover your mouse cursor on Open with and select Choose another app.
• Uncheck the Always open this type of file and click on
  OK.
