  1. Filmstrip in photo's jumping back

Guys,I've got a folder with 200 pictures. Im opening picture 2 and use the filmstrip below to also open picture 5 blue checkbox. I'm scrolling thru the filmstrip and also select picture 32. At this point I'm seeing 3 pictures on my screen. I continue to scroll an about half way searching for another picture. All of a sudden the filmstrip jumps back to the beginning of the filmstrip! If I would go to picture 92 and select it 4 pictures on my screen and continue to scroll searching other pictures the filmstrip is jumping back again. What I've tried:Remove and Install PhotosUsed the repair opti

Where are Photo filmstrip and handles?

    New installation, newest version.

Photo app only shows a single photo at a time. No filmstrip and no handles to advance to next photo.

In Settings the filmstrip is set to on.

  3. Where are Photo filmstrip and handles?

I tried to view the pictures located in the LAN shared folder in the latest versions of Windows 11 and MS Photos, and found that filmstrips and handles worked. But it's worth noting that:

    • When you click anywhere in the image, the filmstrips and handles disappear and can be restored by clicking again.
    • And when you look at the first (last) picture, Previous(Next) disappears, and if there is only one picture, none of the above is displayed, it's by design.

    Filmstrip in photo's jumping back

    Disable Microsoft Photo filmstrip

I got the answer from 2 comments on a YouTube video. Here it is:

Comment #1: "Remove Filmstrip" permanently! Load a photo and go to the 3 inline dots and click, go down to "Settings" then scroll down to "filmstrip" and slide the on/off to the left! You will not see filmstrip again unless you reset this tab!

Comment #2: BUT there is a extra step. Once you open the photo, you have to go to the far/top left and when hovering over the icon, you'll see "Browse all your photos and videos". Once you click that, you can access all settings for Photos, and there is the slider to disable Filmstrip.

This worked for me (so far). Hope this helps!

EDIT: Since there were two separate comments, it's a bit confusing.

(I myself didn't get it until I read the second comment. I don't think the three dots bit applies, at least not in my case.)

Here is (hopefully) a simplified version:

First: left-click on the tiny square icon at the top upper left corner of your photo.

What I get then, is a separate window that says "All Photos".

At the top of that window, it says "Search All Photos" with the tiny magnifying glass for search. (just ignore Search Photos)

To the right of search, it says "Import". (ignore Import)

To the right of Import is the little gear icon. Or cog, whatever it's called.

Left-click on that Gear icon, and that should give you Settings.

Go down to the 7th setting (after Zoom Preference) - you should see the Filmstrip setting.

Slide the the slider to the OFF position, and disable Filmstrip.
