My laptop is turning on its Filter Keys setting without being asked to do so. Or at least that is what it sounds like based on the description online. This has the effect of reversing the Caps Lock key, which puts small text in all caps and vice versa. It also makes it impossible to type a period because this key appears instead: > A similar problem happens when I try to type a comma, resulting in this key: <Other keys also similarly are mistyped as the keys that would appear if I hit the Shift key. Filter Keys

    Hi,

Filter Keys are part of the Ease of Access features in Windows 10 that can help users control the keypress repeat rate and ignore the repeated keys. This setting can be disabled by following these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Control Panel and press Enter.
    • Click Ease of Access.
    • Click Change how your keyboard works.
    • Click Set up Filter Keys.
    • Uncheck Turn on Filter Keys when right SHIFT is pressed for 8 seconds.
    • Uncheck Turn on Filter Keys.
    • Click Apply.
    • Click OK.
    • Restart your computer.

Let us know if you were able to turn Filter Keys off after following these steps.

Windows deselecting and control panel crash

    • When did this unwanted activity on the PC start to happen? About a month ago.
    • Do you get any errors when you encounter the problem? I don't get errors for crashes.
    • What security software are you running on the computer? Avast Free Antivirus.
I did a scan, and it had 4 junk items. It wants me to get the payed version to delete them. (Witch I don't really want to do)

I have been using task manager, and the deselect (I think) is caused by something called wermgr.exe

I hear that is the Automatically Check for solutions option. In order to turn that off, I need the Control Panel.

When I open Control Panel with the Resource Monitor open after it crashes, a lot happens. All I notice is something like WerFault.exe Made its way to the top.

Anyways, I hope this gives you more information to help solve this problem.
