Windows 10: Find Apps Easier & Faster Than Start

These 2 things go together. The Start has one good attribute and use and that is the "Power Users menu"; either Rt Clk the button OR go Win+X. But here is a terrific way to view, find and access ALL Applications No scrolling, see all @ once, nothing in folders

Start your system normally

Get a command prompt. I would then suggest changing the directory to the root making the text files easier to find.

cd\

then the command

net start > norm.txt

This will list all services running in normal mode.

Start in Safe mode

Command prompt

cd\

then

net start > safe.txt

You can then compare these two lists. ( I might copy and paste text into a spreadsheet for comaprison purposes). I've google several articles and they all come back to an AV running in normal mode. I would check the list of services in normal mode. Could be an old AV that you removed but some component remains.

1. Is Cortana able to search the apps installed?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Type Start Settings in Search and hit
  Enter.
• Turn on Show recently added apps in jump list of Start of Taskbar.
