Windows 10: Finding and Deleting a <JUNCTION> or <SYMLINK> in Windows 11

In trying to use OneDrive to back up folders on my D: drive I found a website that suggested I could do it by creating a JUNCTION thus: mklink /j "%UserProfile%\OneDrive\D_Desktop" "D:\Desktop"I did so for the D:\Desktop directory and for the D:\Documents directory. It didn't seem to work. Now these JUNCTIONs are out there somewhere on my disk drives. I would like to remove them so they don't cause any problem in the future. So far, I haven't been able to locate and delete them. Could someone help?PS: I have completely uninstalled OneDrive since and am using Google Drive, which worked l

Results from the laptop working correctly. For this I created a symlink to my Documents D:\ hard drive

I had previously taken ownership with my user name "SMILLER" but I added "Authenticated Users" and "Administrators" to the list here:



I also performed this step on the symlink folder F:\Movies that I created where my user name is the Owner and I added Administrators and Authenticated Users, also with no luck.

I also tried this step with no luck. After all of these suggestions I am still getting this error when I try to delete a folder through the symlink:



It still says I need permission from SMILLLER

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would love to get your thoughts on the results above before resorting to a refresh or repair install of Windows. Both of those processes remove installed apps, yes?

I appreciate your response, as sometimes I may not see the clear answer right in front of my nose.

When I click Continue, it still doesn't allow me to delete and says that I need permission from SMILLER, which is my user name:


Interestingly, If I go inside the folder and delete the media file itself, it hangs for about 15 seconds and then it deletes. But then I go up one folder level and I still can't delete the containing folder.

 

Cannot write files via Symlinks or Junctions after 10586.63 Update

Hi

Yesterday Windows 10 updated itself and all my Symlinks now will not allow me to write a file via the Symlink Path.

I can write directly to the true path of the filestore, works as expected.

Writing a new file, or appending an exiting via any junction or symlink (tested both) will result in "Error 0x8000FFFF Catastrophic Failure"

All my existing links were working perfectly before the update yesterday.

I've removed them and recreated them, no errors occur until I try write via the symlink path.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
