Finding user data on old HD

Old XP computer is dead. Purchased enclosure for the hard drive. Connected to my laptop running Windows 10. HD is recognized, but I can't find my user files, such as documents and photos. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    :)

File history on new hard drive

My hard drive on my computer started to fail. I had a 2TB HD and i took it into a shop to get it repaired and had a 120GB SSD installed onto C: to boot my programs from and had a 2TB HD installed for data as my D: drive. Now it looks like they where able
to transfer over all my data from the old failing HD. But I have a 2TB external HD I used for file share. Now I want to set up file share on the new set up but I have a problem with merging the old with the new. The old file share has everything mapped to
a C: drive but now all my data is on the D: drive. I tried to run the restore option but it wants to add everything over to the C: drive like it was originally done. How can I restore my file share drive to make sure everything transfered from the old drive
and get it mapped correctly so file history keeps working? To further complicate it I have my pictures and media files stored in the public user folder so all the accounts can access the files. I appears that file history is trying to set up a new folder for
the new computer HD and my external HD doesn't have enough storage to have two computers worth of files.

I put in a new SSD, copied my old disk using Samsungs SW, and want to make my original disk a second disk.

    Dennis,

Thank you. I was able to access the old HD and reformat the data partition. There are currently six partitions on the old drive but I can only reformat the data partition. How do I format the entire drive? It is a 2GB HD and I can only reformat the large
data partition (1.8 GB) so its not terribly important since I have plenty of space but I'd like to know. Thanks again.

    Hi,
Check whether the hard drive details are mentioned in disk management. Details such as how many partitions, disk space etc.

It likely if you find the folder you will get access denied as you won't have rights on it you will need to take ownership of the folder

With a good 3rd party folder and file manager, you can, at admin level, drill down to the directories containing your stuff. I recommend copying data folders and files into a "d-drive" d partition in the long run.

Guys - @hzdedjm made their one and only post 3 weeks ago.

If they had anything then they don't now.

    Let it die.

    Hi there
IMO the easiest solution would be to start up Macrium to see if any data on the HDD is recognized.
Then try and IMAGE that disk to some other drive. With Macrium you can then mount the image and browse the data. You can also use a bootable version of Macrium. (The Free version is just fine for this -- Image the HDD and mount the image).]]
To mount the image the macrium program will have an entry Browse Image.

I can't show pic as I'm on a Linux system currently.

Of course another solution is to fire up a Linux Live distro -- that will get you access to all your Windows stuff regardless of the NTFS permissions -- if you can do Linux create a live distro of something like ubunto or mint -- the GUI is pretty like windows and use the file manager. You don't need to install the live distro - run it from USB.

    Cheers
