Windows 10: Fingerprint feature not working on Windows 11 says "This option is currently unavailable"

I recently got a Dell Latitude 7390 2 in 1 with Windows 11 preloaded. I had never tried to set the fingerprint reader up until today but it won't let me, it looks to not be working with Windows Hello features. The option to add a finger is grey and won't let me click on it.

Issue with Windows Hello on Windows 11 - fingerprint recognition option currently unavailable

Hi, I’m having an issue adding a new fingerprint on Windows 11, when I click on the sign in options it says “this option is currently unavailable” and to try again later, the button to set up another finger is greyed out. Log in is working with the fingerprint I have set up put I want to use another finger. What can I do to solve this? My laptop is the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 if that helps any. Thanks xx

Device: Flex 5-14ALC05 Laptop (ideapad) - Type 82HU running Windows 11 22H2

I have run into this issue twice now, I am unable to set up the fingerprint recognition. The first time this happened, I tried reinstalling drivers to no avail. However, after a week I was randomly given the option to set up a fingerprint on the sign-in screen. After setting one up, I was able to use my fingerprint for a week before losing access to it and the "This option is currently unavailable" message was displayed in settings. The second time this happened, I decided to reset my PC and it worked, I was able to set up a fingerprint to use as a sign-in method. The success was short-lived and as soon as I put my PC to sleep to ensure that I could sign in with a fingerprint, the option was gone and the "This option is currently unavailable" came back.

The system reset was my last resort, I am not sure what I should do now. What steps should I try in order to fix this issue?
