Windows 10: fingerprint sensor is not working, how do i enable?

I bought my laptop hp elitebook 845 which has a fingerprint sensor. but when i try to set up my fingerprint, it states that "we couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compactible with window hello fingerprint". The biometric device section in my device manager only have the facial recognitionhello windows software device. All drivers are up to date. what should I do to activate the fingerprint recognition?

Thank you for your reply. I went back into the NGC folder and again it said I didn't have permission. I changed it to Administrators, Check Names and tried again unsuccessfully to delete it . Here are the contents in the attached Doc1 file: Is this the reason I am not able to fix the Fingerprint sensor in your opinion? Even after deleting the contents of NGC folder, what do you think I'll have to do next to get the Fingerprint sensor to work again? I'll try your option of downloading Emco Unlockit after I do a backup of my entire computer this morning using Acronis True Image Home Edition. Thank you very much for your excellent suggestions! I'll keep you posted with my progress!

 

Fingerprint sensor stopped working

I recently purchased an Acer Spin 3 SP313-51N, and the fingerprint sensor has stopped working. While I was trying to login using the sensor, there was a message that said "there was a problem on our end," so I tried to troubleshoot the problem by restarting. Only now the fingerprint sensor has entirely disappeared from the operating system and is no longer listed in device manager. I have tried installing the driver from Acer's website but the fingerprint sensor still doesn't appear anywhere, and Windows Hello is disabled, with the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint"

 

How to enable fingerprint sensor while in domain and linux active directory

In my office we have a Linux based server (nethserver) which handles stuff like samba share, DHCP, and newly added: active directory (for our Windows clients) etc.

Now because of the lack of security I decided to use the server as AD controller to enable domain user login on the Windows clients.

So now I really want to use a fingerprint sensor for the colleges to login but it is greyed out in the account settings.

So what is working:

• Active Directory on Server
  
• adding windows PC to domain
  
• login as a domain user on windows mashine
  

What I need to work:

• fingerprint sensor login (windows hello maybe?)
  
• I think PIN login is required for fingerprint login (?)
  

What I have already tried:

• in GPO allowed fingerprint sensor login (computer config AND user config (just to be sure) and Windows Hello, PIN login.
  

I think I read somewehere that I HAVE TO use a Windows Server domain to enable Windows Hello for Business and so the PIN login or Fingerprint sensor.

Does anyone know if there is a workaround to enable fingerprint reader for Windows clients in a domain?
