Windows 10: Fingerprint Sensor not working

Recently I have been unable to use my fingerprint sensor on my Asus Vivobook Pro14X. Under device manager > ELAN WBF Fingerprint Sensor properties, it is stated that "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. Code 31 Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API. "May I know how to resolve this?

I went back into the NGC folder and again it said I didn't have permission. I changed it to Administrators, Check Names and tried again unsuccessfully to delete it .

Is this the reason I am not able to fix the Fingerprint sensor in your opinion? Even after deleting the contents of NGC folder, what do you think I'll have to do next to get the Fingerprint sensor to work again?

I'll try your option of downloading Emco Unlockit after I do a backup of my entire computer this morning using Acronis True Image Home Edition.

Fingerprint sensor not working

I just updated to the newest version of Windows. This current laptop is only 2 weeks old and when I got it, the fingerprint sensor was working just fine. Now, after the update, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work. When I got to settings, it says we couldn't
find a fingerprint sensor compatible with Windows Hello even though it worked before the update. How would I fix this? I've tried restarting but it doesn't work.

I've had issues over the past few years with the Fingerprint sensor.

I was able to get it to work a few years ago...but it stopped again the other day.

I've watched numerous tutorials on You Tube on how to try to fix it.

None have worked.

1 is deleting the contents of the NGC folder. I am not able to delete the contents of this folder even in Safe Mode
It keeps telling me I do not have permission. I have followed instructions on finding my user name and Checking Names and it still doesn't allow me to delete the contents.

The computer will not go to sleep now. Editing this post the next morning in powercfg/requests under System and Execution appears this error message:

"process device hard disk volume 4\windows\system32\dllhost.exe a file deletion is in progress"

I think this is from when I was trying to delete the contents of what was in the NGC folder.

And also in Biometrics with

I don't know what else to do at this point.

One of the previous solutions is still showing this in Biometrics:
Windows Hello Face Software Device. The driver is working properly. But under details it shows this message:

Device Root\WindowsHelloFaceSoftwareDriver\0000 requires further installation.

I uninstalled this Windows Hello Face Software Device and then ran powercfg/requests but the same error messages appear: "process device hard disk volume 4\windows\system32\dllhost.exe a file deletion is in progress"

This is 1 of the 2 You Tubes I watched yesterday which have the methods I have tried to get the Fingerprint sensor to work again on my laptop. (I'm still trying to locate the 2nd You Tube I watched.



Yesterday in one of the suggestions, the presenter had me go to C drive, Windows folder, then System32 folder, SystemProfiles folder, WinNioPlugins folder, Face Driver folder, right clik on Hello Face (setup information) Clik on Install. It DID NOT generate the Operation succesfully. But today it just did succesfully install.

I am going to restart the computer now and run powercfg/requests to see if the errors are still appearing.

Just restarted the laptop and the error messages appearing running powercfg/requests are now gone.

But under Windows Hello Face Software Device. The driver is working properly, it still shows this message:

Device Root\WindowsHelloFaceSoftwareDriver\0000 requires further installation.

Any suggestions on how to get this to Fingerprint sensor to work again on my HP Envy laptop?
