Windows 10: Firefox ESR?

    Firefox ESR?


    As a non-enterprise user, should I install the regular version of Firefox or the ESR version? As far as I know, the ESR will still remain on the current build but the security updates will still be maintained in the ESR version. I am afraid if Firefox gets a major update, then things might break. With the ESR, I can be sure that an update has been tested throughly before pushing them out. Will the ESR version still be updated with security updates in a timely manner? Im more concerned with these major releases.

    How to rollback to Firefox ESR v52.9.0 after automatic update.

    I have been using Firefox ESR. I am not ready for Firefox Quantum because I want to use the legacy extensions "Show Parent Folder", "Go Parent Folder", and "Session Manager" and a few others. I am not concerned about security because I find Kaspersky Internet Security (and others) sufficient for my purposes.

    So I downloaded file
    firefox-52.9.0esr.win64.sdk.zip
    from page
    Directory Listing: /pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/
    but I don't know how to use it. I can't find a setup.exe -- or any .exe.

    How can I roll back to ESR v52.9.0?

    (I do have file "Firefox Setup 52.5.2esr64.exe", but that is apparently not the latest)

    It is three weeks later and Firefox ESR has tried to update again. At Firefox startup, the popup "Firefox Software Update" asks for permission to change the program. I chose [no].
    The popup refers to C:\Program Files\Mosilla Firefox\Update\. I assume that the update would replace ESR with a Quantum version -- as that is what it did last time.

    Options:
    In [tools][options][advanced][update] my setting is:
    Never check for updates(...) -- is selected
    Use background service to install updates -- is unchecked.
    [Help][About] says that ESR 52..9.0 (64) is currently on the ESR update channel.

    How can I permanently stop this version of Firefox from updating?
