Windows 10: Firefox Fights Back - Firefox 57

I started off with IE and was happy with it until i think it was IE 6 or 7 when they made a change to the URL field incorporating search into and I didn't like that so I started using Firefox full time. FF always had issues especially with Flash - you had to turn off protected mode and this and that. But I found with tinkering that FF worked great for me and there was tons of extensions for everything. I've tried nearly every browser I think. I never liked Chrome and I don't keep it on my machines. Come to think of it, other than maybe adsense and the SE itself, I don't like any of the Google products. I can't stand the design - gmail, chrome, google +, etc. Just doesn't work for me.

Now I'm actually trying out Pale Moon for the 8th or so time. Pretty snappy browser and it's working well with various videos and sites which is an issue in the past that turned me away. It's definitely faster than FF. I guess I chose a good time to start some browser experimentation given the kind of talk in that article. Getting rid of the search engine url field? Don't like. Membership? Not sure. Super fast browser, sounds good. Loss of some extensions (UO?) - not good at all. I'll try it out but if no like I'll keep an earlier version..

 

Never liked Chrome , Firefox and it´s pluggin not responding crashes , i use mainly Opera although they kinda ruined it after they went over chromium it used to be faster and you could disable JavaScript.

 

Can't use Chrome here. Everything I need to do is different on Chrome. I could re-learn the actions and buttons in Chrome. But why bother?

 

yesterday i decided to install the nightly, and just under half of my addons were incompatible. i found a about:config tweak and they;re all working now. i haven't seen any issues with any of them so far.

Fisher Mann lastpass is working perfectly here. on another note at one time and for a very long ff had the lions share of the browser market. they killed themselves by shoving australia down peoples throats. pretty happy with chrome 64 bit beta as my default right now.

 

Of course it doesn't install without user permission; that's not the point. The point is the install is "opt out" like most bundleware. It's not "opt in". Bundleware vendors know that many users don't pay attention and will allow the extra software to install. That doesn't mean people actually use it.

 

Where you download the installer from is the key issue.

I was using Chrome but it has too large of a footprint so I switched to Slimjet 64 bit.

 

I just switched to Firefox 57 and it seems better than all of the past releases.

Thanks appreciate knowing that. The Developer's Edition is very smooth so will use that for a bit before going back to Nightly.

While I really do like FF, without anything to back up this claim except my useage, Opera IMO is the fastest browser that I have tried.

 

Is there a link to download firefox 57? The only thing I saw was a nightly version 55. Seemed real slow.

Already ran into a problem. A site i visit often isn't displayed correctly. With or without multiprocess enabled, but it's Nightly so

It won't display reactions on that page.

I don't see that much difference.

 

I've been using Nightly 57 for a couple of days & it definitely seems much much faster than 54. I created a new profile for nightly & then synced it with 54.
