Windows 10: firewall & network protection problem

On firewall & network protection panel the advanced settings link does not respond and I can not restore firewalls to default because the respective link is unresponsive also.

For you to be able to get to your firewall, please follow the steps below:

• Go to start Button.
• Open Windows defender Security Center.
• Then go to Firewall & network protection.
• Then choose a network profile.

Windows Defender - Firewall and Network Protection

Windows Firewall Notifications. I have done something stupid in looking at options to permit a single piece of software connect through the internet. I didn't sort that problem, but in that process within Windows Defender (Firewall and Network Protection
- Firewall Notification Settings) I have left the Windows Firewalls Notifications section "off" (when it previously was "on") and I can't get it altered. By changing that Windows Firewall Notification to "on" and then acknowledging "yes" to the User Control
enquiry, it gets modified: but it reverts immediately back to "off" as soon as the Windows Defender is closed (and reopened). How can I get Windows Firewall Notifications to stay "on"??

The "private (discoverable) firewall" and "Public (non-discoverable) firewall" are also currently both unticked on that Firewall Notification Settings page, under the above Windows Firewalls Notification. But even if both ticked, the change is not permanently
accepted (as above).

And on the Firewall and Network Protection summary page, both the Private (discoverable) network and Public (non-discoverable) network show "network is not connected" - I'm not certain of their status when I started on my aborted software internet task,
but I do have McAfee operating, so I presume its operation has left these "not connected".

Can anyone help on the Firewalls Notification problem - moving its permanently to "On"

 

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

Let us know what happens after doing the suggestion.
