Windows 10: Fix Account Message in Mail App

I use Windows 10 with Version 1909 on a PC


Suddenly, a couple of days ago, when I opened Mail, I got a notification that my settings were out of date.

I clicked Fix Account.

The screen showed the address of one of my two email accounts and asked for the password.

I entered the password which I had written down on paper and which had worked many times in the past.

The screen said the password was incorrect.

I clicked on Did You Forget Password? in the hope of getting a new password that would work.

The screen said to get a code from my other email account and use it to get a new password for the present one.

I tried to navigate to my other email account to get the code.

The screen locked, froze. I could not get to my other account to get the code.


No new emails have come into my Inbox since October 9, which is not normal. Today is October 13.


Also, over the past couple of days, the entire list of deleted email messages disappeared from my Mail account.


Can you help me fix this?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up! *Tongue

YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.




2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box




3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.




4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.




Fully functional mail app again.



GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.

Yes, once 2-factor authentication is enabled you should then create the app specific password & enter it instead of the account password.
