Windows 10: Fix for "Windows Update Error Code 0x80080005" not working. Fix not working by: Andre Da Costa

When i preformed stage 2 of the fix link 1 I tried to disble wuauserv and CMD admin replied "The wuauserv service is not started."



When i preformed stage 4 of the fix link 1 I tried to enable wuauserv and CMD admin replied "The wuauserv service is starting. The wuauserv service could not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 2 has occurred. The system cannot find the file specified.


How do I fix this?

I recently posted a problem regarding the above topic. Windows Update KB 4093112 with Error Code 0x800f0922

Andre Da Costa responded.

I followed the direction to Block updates that was recommended. I had to Restore my computer before doing this as the Update had my PC basically stopped. The Restore worked, the Block worked ( I think), and the PC is running ok now.

However I check Windows Update and this Update is Awaiting Restart. So if I blocked it- will it run again? Will the Block work from that standpoint?

Or is it going to try another Update?

suggests the error number may occur where one of the OTHER drives has a problem.

Your specs don't say whether you have other drives installed.

Anyway, worth using Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - the best text summary of such programs I've seen- to check your disks. Failing that check SMART params and do a surface scan with something else.

Response from Andre Da Costa regarding KB 4093112 - how to block update

After using Andre Da Costa's recommended change (which is working) I am left with the following concern & question:

After doing this I do not see the KB 3073930 in my list of installed updates. Also - I assume it is working somehow - but what will it do to future updates that I will need to install?

The change made -Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.

I am not clear on the overall process - blocking & being able to install future updates.

Please advise
