Windows 10: Fix "insufficient privileges to access this directory"

So, I want to install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN program.

Every time I try it, this message shows up.


I have already googled this issue a number of times and I haven't found the right solution yet.


I have tried:


- to run it as an administrator

- to be logged in as an administrator and then run it

- to create the folder (trick from the internet, but there it always installed to the programdata folder, anyconnect wants to be installed in the Program Files (x86) Folder and there I cannot create any folders)

-to change the permissions of Program Files (x86)


And nothing worked out. The reason could be that I recently reset (I am not sure if it was a proper reset. It only put my system to the condition of three months ago, my files were not deleted.) Windows due to a lag. Since then, I have not tried to install anything except for this program and an adobe update (which had the same problem as well but that is not really a problem).


My account is an administrator (says so in the settings) and the properties of the Program Files show me that there is no problem either.


So what should I do? Please help me, it is quite important for my work.

installer insufficient privileges

When installing itunes in Windows 10, I get "installer insufficient privileges". How do I resolve this?

 

Insufficient Privileges to Install iTunes in Windows 10

When I try to (re)install iTunes I get "installer has insufficient privileges to access C:\Program Files\iTunes. The installation cannot continue. Logon as admin or contact system admin." I am logged in as the Admin. This error occurs when the install gets
to the step of "creating folders..." I tried to outsmart it by thinking I could either rename or remove the iTunes folder (while logged in as Admin) in C:\Program Files\ but I cannot do that because "Location is not available. Access is denied C:\Program Files\iTunes"

Insufficient rights when creating Start Menu items during installation


Hi forum,

I have an issue when installing software in general on my Windows 10 Pro installation.

So far i've tried with Skype and VirtualBox and both installations are having issues when it comes to create the Start Menu shortcuts, i get the error and have to cancel the installation: The installer has insufficient privileges to access the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Oracle VM VirtualBox. The installer cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.





What i've tried so far:

• Running the installer with Administrator rights
• Taking ownership over the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu folder, using this method: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...menu-in-vista/

These steps have helped some users with the same issue, but i cant seem to catch a break, i still can't install software.

Any help would be much appreciated.
