2. In the Services app, scroll down to locate the Print Spooler.
3. Right-click on Print Spooler and select Properties.
4. Click on the Dependencies tab. There, you will see a list of services. Expand the services and note them.
5. Check the status of all the Dependent services that you have noted. All these services should be running.

4] Download the latest printer driver from the manufacturer’s website

If your Windows 10 compatible printer’s displaying “Printer in error state” there may be a problem with the printer itself.

So before doing any changes, make sure the printer is properly turned on,connected
to your PC by the cable or Wi-Fi connection.

Also, check it for the low paper or ink and be sure printer’s
cover isn’t open and the paper isn’t jammed.

I have also faced this annoying error a month ago and thankfully making few changes in the Port Settings through Device Manager helped me in this situation. Here's how to fix Printer in Error State:

• First of all, open Device Manager.

• Click on View menu and then choose "Show hidden devices".

• Expand the Ports (COM & LPT) and right click on Printer Port
  then select Properties.

• Now, go to the Port Settings tab and then select “Use any interrupt assigned to the port” option.

• And also check the “Enable legacy Plug and Play detection” box.

• Finally, click on OK button to save the changes and then
  restart your PC.

These changes in Port Settings should fix Printer in Error State in Windows 10 operating system.

Windows 10 "printer is in an error state" unable to print to any printer

None of those suggestions work because it is a problem with windows 10. I can print from the same printer on the same computer using windows 8.1 (dual boot).

I fixed my Windows 10 error state w a Cannon MG6220!

• Click Start, type Services.msc in Search box.
• Double-click Printer Spooler in the list.
• Go to Recovery tab and Select Restart the Service in Subsequent Failures field.

Then once the restart is initiated, go back to the Services window.

Click once on the Printer Spooler to active it.

In the upper left corner, there should be an option to restart the service.

Active the restart and you printer should come back online
