Windows 10: Fix software not open data execution prevention?

I am a software developer and my costumers cannot run a program coded in Visual Basic 6 unless they follow following steps:Click System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings. On the Advanced tab, next to the Performance heading, click Settings. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab. Select Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.I really want to make my software work without the need of my customers to do that, should I buy a Code Signing Certificate? I already contacted Microsoft and sent them the executable but I really doubt they will review my case.A

Shadowrun keeps crashing and telling me

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.


How can I stop this?

 

Data Execution Prevention, wtf is this

control panel > system and maintenance > system > advanced system settings

choose "settings" under "Performance"

choose the Data Execution Prevention tab

choose "turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only"

to turn OFF DEP bring up the command prompt and type this:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

the entire thing just like that

reboot and it should be off

should be.....

to turn back on, this:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn


and you may want to check the settings in the first step above again once back on. the one where you change settings

also it should be noted that DEP is generally viewed as a critical security component of Windows, and one form or another of it has been present in versions of Windows since Windows has been around. or at least since Windows '98 or w/e

its just never been so....intrusive before :\

 

File Explorer crash when opened from taskbar (never happened before)

Method 1.

You should be able to fix this problem by disabling DEP (Data Execution Prevention)

• Step 1.Log in computer with Administrator account to make sure you have fully administrative rights.
• Step 2. If your computer is running Windows XP, click "Start" button and select "Run". Windows 7 user can press Windows and R keys. Type sysdm.cpl in Run box and click OK.
• Step 3. You can see System Prosperities window from which you need to click Advanced tab and then Settings.
• Step 4. The "Performance Options" window will pop up and please click "Data Execution Protection" tab. Select the option "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" and click "Add" button.
• Step 5. Browse files from the Open applet and find the exe files of the software which causes the error code. Select it and click "Open" button.
• Step 6. Click "Apply" and "OK" to make changes take effect.
