    Windows 10 volume lowering problems?

    Hi MS Community,

I've been having trouble for a while now with services (specifically Spotify Web Player and Youtube) lowering their volume automatically for some reason. I can't seem to figure out why. I always run these websites on Google Chrome, so this may be a Chrome
issue. I don't think it is a Spotify problem or a Youtube problem. The installed Spotify app runs consistently well but the web player has issues. After every song, the volume disappears to about 1 or 2 percent, not completely muted. If the house is quiet
I can still hear it barely in my headphones. The volume slider does not appear to reduce the volume. It still displays the volume at full capacity. All I have to do to fix it is slide the slider down a bit and back up and it returns to normal volume.

Same with Youtube, but with one slight difference. After every video, Windows reduces the volume. Adjusting the Youtube volume slider does nothing. Instead I have to lower and then raise again the Windows volume slider. That's why I think it may be a Windows
    problem.

I've already tried reinstalling my audio driver multiple times, adjusting audio enhancements, and playing with the mixer and equalizer settings to see if it's fixed. Nothing helps.

I can't remember exactly when this started, but it's been going on at least a few months, which is why I switched to using the installed Spotify app instead of the web version.

    Thank you for your input!

  3. Windows Volume goes down when Spotify is switch off

    Thanks for the response/reply.

Followed the step mentioned in your reply, but it didn't help.

I can clearly hear the different in volume when I play a song on YouTube (over the browser), and as soon as I switch on Spotify, the volume of the song goes high even me without doing anything, and when I minimize Spotify application, the volume goes down
    again.

Not sure if the volume is increased by spotify or not.

Fix Spotify keeps lowering Volume on Windows PC

Why isn't Spotify showing up in the volume-mixer?

Here's an interesting issue. The audio coming from Spotify desktop no longer appears in the system volume mixer (the program entirely, not just audio activity), and seems to be entirely bypassing EqualizerAPO. This observed behavior seems to imply that Spotify's audio is not going through the "system effect infrastructure". Aside from the troubleshooting that I have tried below, does anyone have any suggestions as to why a particular program (in this case, Spotify) would not list itself in the volume mixer and how to remedy the issue?

    Further details/Troubleshooting:

    • Spotify is affected by the main volume control.
    • Spotify appears to be the only program that isn't appearing as expected in the volume mixer.
    • If all playback devices are disabled, Spotify still plays.
    • I have reinstalled Spotify several times, alternating between installing from the store and installing through the SpotifySetup.exe
    • I have reinstalled my audio driver several times (this actually started after I reinstalled my audio driver because my mic was marked as "currently unavailable" but all it took to fix that is to swap back and forth the default recording device.
    • sfc /scannow doesn't find any issues, this is a fairly new installation to begin with of Windows 10.

Edit: I reinstalled Windows because that seems to fix everything. And it seems to have solved the issue described above. I will leave the question open in case someone knows what would cause a program to exhibit such behavior.
