Windows 10: Fix Ugly Start Menu?

I've just downloaded the newest version of Windows 10, and man, I really don't like the new Start Menu. Is there a way to get the old folders back, like how they were tied to your theme color? They look terrible now. Also, they got rid of colored tiles for me, so applications like Word and Excel just have the same black background (dark theme) and aren't colored like the application.

* Are you referring to the Start Menu problem?

* Did you have problem in launching Start Menu?

* What error message you can see when you launch Start Menu?

* Did you made any changes to your device prior?

If you have any problems with Start Menu, suggest you try the below mentioned steps and see if it fix the issue:

  Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.
  
• 
  Click File > Run New Task
  
• 
  Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
  
• 
  Type CMD
  
• 
  Type the following commands at the CMD prompt:
  
  dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  
  sfc /scannnow

Windows 10 Start menu is empty

Hi. Steps 1 and 2 didn't do much but step 3 has restored what looks like the list of original Microsoft apps but no sign of any of the many apps I have installed. And there are no tiles in the start menu. Any suggestions please?

 

Start menu default internet acces icon screwed?

You generally set that via the Start Menu settings (right-click start menu -> properties).

I had that issues a while ago, and it meant removing it from the Start Menu, and reinstalling my browser to get the icon back, it was very odd.
