Windows 10: Fix "We can't open file. You don't have permission to access this file."

Hello! I have some saved files from 2021 and I haven't used this PC in a while. Now, when I check out File Explorer, the files have a lock symbol on it, and when I click them, it says "We can't open file. You don't have permission to access this file.". I made the files a few years back, and am pretty much the owner, how can I fix this and see the contents inside my files again? These are video files but there is an image file too.

I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

Please help me as I really need to run This file.

File permissions to delete file

You can try the steps below

1. Right click the file to that you don’t have permission to access. Vlick Properties.
2. Go to Security tab and select Edit.
3. Select Add button
4. Type Everyone then select Check Names. Click OK to save changes.
5. you will be back in the previous window, under Group or users names, choose Everyone then check mark Full control.
