Windows 10: Fix Windows Update Error Code 8024a112

This is basically an Update Error that doesn’t let you restart your machine to finish the install. Every time you finish the install and attempt to restart your PC, it fails. Though the reason for this error is still not addressed by Microsoft, it reportedly occurs more for the users logged in using Windows Insider Build Programme. Most of the time, it happens when there is any pending restart in your PC already.



Fix Windows Update Error Code 8024a112

1. Update and Restart the PC manually via Start Menu
2. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter
3. Disable the Antivirus temporarily
4. Download and install the update manually
5. Check the broken Task Scheduler.

1] Update and Restart Manually


This error is usually seen when you click on the Restart button in the Windows Update Settings panel. The error message pops up when you click on it.

You could open Start and click on Update and Restart or Update and Shut down.



If that does not help, press Alt+F4, select the option ‘Update and Restart’

If nothing helps, power down your PC.

2] Run the Windows Update troubleshooter




After powering it down, start your PC and run the built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter. The built-in troubleshooter of Windows 10 helps getting rid of almost every error. When you run a troubleshooter, the system automatically scans and tries to detect the problem. It not just detects but also solves the issues most of the time. To run the troubleshoot, type Troubleshoot in your Search box of the Start Menu. You can also open Troubleshoot settings from the Run Box.

Press Win+R to open the Run box and type ms-settings:troubleshoot. Press Enter.

Open Troubleshoot settings and click on Additional Troubleshooter from the right pane.

Select Windows Update and Run the Troubleshooter.



The troubleshooter will then start detecting problems and see if there is any pending restart in your PC.

3] Disable the Antivirus temporarily


Sometimes your antivirus may also encounter the update and show such errors. To avoid this, disable your antivirus software or any third-party security software. and try running the update again.

See if now your PC reboots automatically after installing the update.

4] Download the Update Manually


This can also help. Obviously, you know which update is causing this error, so check the Microsoft Update Catalog and download the update manually for your system.

5] Check the broken Task Scheduler


Some users have reportedly solved this error Code 8024a112 by re-enabling the broken Task Scheduler via Registry Editor.



Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule

Locate Start in the right pane and right-click to Modify. Enter 2 in the Hexadecimal Value data.

Click OK and Save,

Restart your PC and see.

Windows 10 will not activate Error code 0x803F7001

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.

Can you please tell me the error code you receive when you get the update failed message? If it is 80070002 or anything like that, follow these steps:



Well, first of all let me just say that I am not a computer professional. However, I have had the same problem with my 32-Bit Windows Vista Home Premium (making Microsoft's statement null and void) and I have solved it! Here are the step by step instructions:



1) Go to the Start Menu.

2) Click on Computer.

3) Open up the drive where windows is installed (usually your C drive).

4) Open the Windows Folder.

5) Scroll down a bit and locate the SoftwareDistribution folder (exactly like that).

6) Open the Download folder.

7) Open the Install folder.

8) There sould only be one file there. Right click on it and select "Run as Administrator".

9) After entering an Administrator password, run the installation, using the default values and clicking yes at the license.

10) After the installation is complete (shouldn't take more than a few minutes), restart your computer (as an added precaution, though not necessary).

11) After the computer restarts again, run Windows Update again. It should run as normal. All fixed!

I apologize for Microsoft's ineptitude.
