Windows 10: FIXED – WINDOWS 10 JUMPLIST DELAY OPENING JUMPLIST FOLDERS FROM WINDOWS EXPLORER TASKBAR ICON

Hey Gang. I’ve been running Windows 10 Pro x64, and have been experiencing Jumplist delay of about 1-2 sec when trying to open jumplist folders from Windows Explorer Taskbar Icon. After hours of researching and testing, I discovered that my issue was caused by two Explorer Context Menu Items GDContextMenu64.dll added by Google’s Backup and Sync app.



I used CCleaner Free to disable these two context menu items:



*Directory GDContextMenu

*Drive GDContextMenu64



Then I relaunched explorer.exe, and NO MORE JUMPLIST DELAY!!! J



See image below. In CCleaner, you can navigate to TOOLS, and select the CONTEXT MENU tab to access and enable/disable the Explorer context menu items.

Jumplist problem

When I right-click on a pinned item on a taskbar Jumplist and the file is unavailable the item cannot be "Unpinned from the list", nor can the item be deleted from the jumplist. I first noticed this when the February update that borked my USB mouse. A
lot of the items in the jumplist did not come up on the screen when I clicked on them but when I found the file and clicked on the file in it's containing folder opening the file up then clicking on the jumplist entry of the file would work again. It seems
that I must have deleted the files in the folder but the jumplst entry of the file is borked and the file cannot be removed from the jumplist, but if the file does exist in a folder, opening it up in the folder fixes the jumplist entry so it will work again.

Any ideas?

 

Windows Explorer's Jumplist reads "frequent" but shows recent

When I right-click on the Windows Explorer icon pinned to my taskbar, the jumplist shows, as usual, a list of pinned locations followed by a list of "frequent" locations. But the latter is actually showing the most recent places where I opened/saved a file, regardless of how frequently I use that folder. So even if I never used a folder before, it goes to the top of the "frequent" list when I open a file there. I've recently migrated from Windows 7, where the jumplist is ordered by frequency by default (until you permanently mess it up with CCleaner, apparently) and I would like to know if it is possible to make it work like that on Windows 10 too.

Please note this has nothing to do with Quick Access and its Frequent Folders and Recent Files. Most of my searches redirected to questions about these.

Also, searching about this issue I actually found many people asking how to do the opposite i.e their jumplists are actually sorted by most frequent first and they wanted to change to most recent. Was it different in early versions of Windows 10? It's also odd that my jumplist actually reads "frequent" despite showing recent. I hope there is a way to change it.

First of all, welcome to tenforums @jki ,
and, welcome to Windows 10 - The Land Of Confusion!

As @dalchina stated, there seems to be many discrepancies with these settings!
For the time being, I'd suggest experimenting with some settings in Folder Options and Settings, as I don't think there is a complete resolve to this issue.
