Windows 10: fixing c: stage 1. it got thru the stage 1 process and now has been stuck in this loop...

my computer was running slow last friday so i turned it off and turned it back on again. when i turned it on it said fixing c: stage 1. it got thru the stage 1 process and now has been stuck in this loop fixing c: stage 2 0% 3814 of 907852 total 28%; ETA 72:21:10 since sunday and has not changed. i've done some research on what to do but i keep finding conflicting info on what to do. some say leave it alone others say to reboot. please help.

Fixing (C Stage 1

I updated my computer on Sunday. It restarted after the update but the log in screen would not boot up. It would not turn off so I removed the battery. After removing the battery I got the fixing (C) Stage 1. I let it run for 24 hours the first time but
it was running the cycle fixing c stage 1 and repairing errors. After that I removed the hard drive and attached it a school computer. The school computer wanted to format it but I said no because I didn't want to lose the files. Once I said no it made the
drive inaccessible. I put the drive back in the computer and it went straight to automatic diagnostic pc. I tried skipping the scan but then a get a blue screen that say it wasn't able to boot then it takes me to the repairing disk errors and fixing c stage
1 cycle. I tried turned on and off to get to the Windows Recovery to boot in safe mode but it won't allow me to do that. Is the drive gone? Is there a way for me to get my files? I really just want to get my files off of the drive.

Update: It just moved to stage 2. It is the first time it moved to stage 2. I am going to let it work and then update later to tell you all what happened.

 

CHKDSK stuck at Stage 1

Hi,

The percentage stays the same and the screen is showing a message saying Fixing (C Stage 1: 0% (5683 of 619008); Total:0%; ETA: 401:42:09... By the way, I am running a laptop, (AMD A6) It has been 2 hours since it being stuck at 0% and it still is
