Windows 10: Flash drive duplication; how to fix?

Windows 11 version 23H2 OS Build 22631.3880 No matter what flash drive I plug into my computer, there appears two duplicate and nearly identical drives. One is in list view and the other is in icon view, and I'm not sure which one is the real one. Another difference is that there is one drive that appears under "this PC" and another that appears outside of it. To make it clear, I have one flash drive plugged in at a time, but each one I try has the same duplication.I saw there was a fix for this online but it seemed to be for one flash drive, rather than all of them. External drives are duplicated in File Explorer on Windows 11.

Pls try the steps (or the registry fix remove-duplicate-drives.reg to automate the task) to resolve the issue.

External Drives Listed Twice (Duplicate) in File Explorer Navigation Pane

 

Duplicate drive listed in explorer.

I had read some good tutorials on how to remove unwanted items from the side explorer navigation pane and was interested if someone knows how to remove a duplicate of a drive showing up?

Here is what I am dealing with:





The duplicate listing of Drive F: which is a USB Flash drive is not necessary and I would like to remove one of them.

Any ideas?

I'll give it a go and find out.

It appears that the drives listed under "This PC" are not considered duplicate listings and the reg file does not have any effect on those listings.

So imperially or practically, I guess I don't really have a duplicate listing of the drive unless the branch of "This PC" is expanded.
