  1. Flash drives are dead after running your update tool

    Hello Mrkvosoft,

My dad asked me to reinstall his legal WIN10 system on his laptop as it is incredibly slow ever since he was forced to update from Win8.

I used YOUR software from YOUR pages in order to download and create a bootable flash drive.

Once the downloading was finished, it did something to that flash drive and the process failed with 0x80070002-0xA001A error with no additional information what so ever.

Flash drives cannot be formatted now and cannot be used anymore. It was a quite new flash drives which I was using regularly. I did installation of normal system like Ubuntu with no problem before.

But once I tried to use your software my flash drive is dead. Thank you very much.

So I am wondering who will pay me for destroying my hardware. I am using legal WIN and I would expect a professional service including reparation. This is unacceptable. Yes, it is not expensive to buy new one but... seriously?

I am confident you will send me a new 16GB flash drives within days.

From the architecture point of view - maybe you might CHECK the flash drive first before downloading a software so I dont have to wait hours to see a failure. You are paid well so do something about it.

    :)

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

    ¿You already tried this one?...

    Run CMD

    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

    good luck!

    flash drive data

    LOL on this. :'D

Anyway, let us try to scan first if there are any data corruption causing this one to your flash drive. Kindly follow the steps provided below:

    Method 1:

System file checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Run system file checker (SFC) and see if it helps. Please follow these steps:

    • Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin).

    • Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.

    sfc /scannow

If it does not help, use method 2.

    Method 2:

Run DISM tool and check the issue. Please follow these steps:

    • Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin).

    • Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

If this have not detected any issues, we will proceed with the next steps.

Let us know how it goes.

Failed Media Creation Tool attempt at bootable USB flash drive

Shawn, these are the steps being referred to that NavyLCDR posted. They work for both UEFI and MBR.

Here are the steps to create a standard Windows 10 USB flash drive:

    1. Use the Media Creation Tool to download and save the ISO file to your hard drive.
    2. Insert the USB flash drive.
    3. Open a Administrator Command Prompt and enter: diskpart (if it isn't an administrator command prompt, it will ask for administrator permission).
    4. list disk
    5. select disk # <- replace # with the actual disk number of the USB flash drive
    6. clean <- this will erase the disk selected above, make sure you selected the USB flash drive!
    7. create part pri
    8. format fs=fat32 quick
    9. active
    10. exit
    11. exit - and if the first Command Prompt was not an Administrator Command Prompt, exit that one too.
    11. Mount the ISO file saved by the Media Creation Tool. If you are using Windows 8 or 10, you only have to right click on it and click on mount. If you are using Windows 7, then you must use a program like WinCDEmu to mount the ISO file:
WinCDEmu - the easiest way to mount an ISO. And more...
    12. Copy all the files and folders from the mounted ISO file to the USB flash drive.

That's as simple as it gets. Between steps 7 and 8 you can enter: "select part 1" without quotes - but it should not be necessary.
Between steps 8 and 9 you can enter: "assign" without quotes - but it should not be necessary.
