Windows 10: Flash player updates not being installed

This issue appears to affect windows 10, all versions.


We use WSUS to distribute updates. All updates with the word "Flash" are approved for install. The clients do not report any updates are available to install either from WSUS or online with Microsoft. Clients have their Windows Update settings set by group policy, and are set to install updates automatically, include recommended updates, and also updates for other Microsoft services.


I have also checked the updates in WSUS and all Flash updates that i have looked at so far say that they are not applicable to any client machines. Further to this, even updates that i am confident that they should be applicable to windows 10 computers.


An example of an update i would expect to be applicable is:

2020-02 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems KB4537759

This show as not required by any clients, but there are definitely some clients with Windows 10 1809 reporting into WSUS


I reached out to a friend who is also in the industry, and after him looking into it. He has confirmed that they are in the same position.

One possible cause why your Flash Player was not working is due to a software conflict. To isolate your issue, we'd to know if you've tried accessing the involved sites using another browser. Does the issue still persist?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you follow these steps to download Flash Player and make sure Flash Player settings is turned on:

• If you see a Blocked Adobe Flash content puzzle piece near the Favorites button, click it, then either
  Allow once or Always allow to allow Flash on the page.
• If you don't see a Blocked Adobe Flash content puzzle piece but you do not see a note to download flash on the page, click the download link and Edge should enable the puzzle piece so you can follow step 1.

I can't find Adobe Flash Player

Hi Manal,

I realize that you are unable to find Adobe Flash player in Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. I will try to help you with this issue.

To check if Adobe software package is installed on the PC, follow these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on Programs and Features.
  
• 
  You will get the list of all installed programs on the PC.
