Windows 10: Flight Airplane Mode has greyed out Setting i.e. stuck ON & Bluetooth won't connect to...

Most posts on stuck Flight mode indicate that they can't get WiFi which I understand is much of the point of Flight Mode. Have gone through numerous steps to turn it off/remove it/disable it to no effect but suspect that the fact that WiFi works would indicate a solution for someone well versed in these matters. The last advice I got from a Microsoft advisor was to do some sort of "Image....reset/download but it stopped suggesting 8Gb of space req'd and I have about 2 apparently; even though Settings /storage only records about 17 of 32 used including the 7 or so that Win, 10 puts aside.


So at this point it seems that deleting Win. 10 and installing Linux is the only way to turn off Flight mode if it is indeed on; wouldn't be astonished to discover it's actually off and that Bluetooth just requires some box to be ticked - found that actually prior to a re-install of Win. 10 but can't locate it again and no one seems to have heard of it. Prior to attempting to get yet another Tier 1 advisor to take this complex issue to another level I thought I'd try the community one more time. Please don't waste time with articles with numerous steps about adapters/drivers/Settings/Switches; been there; done that.

The problem is that the toggle for airplane mode cannot be 'depressed', so these suggested steps are not going to work. A search for 'airplane mode stuck lumia' will bring up numerous threads on the same problem. My guess: there's a type of hardware problem
that will cause the OS to report that airplane mode is on. Maybe some system level failure of the antenna assembly (?). The fact that the user sees this as 'airplane mode on' leads to a lot of confusion. It would be great if you can get hardware and software
engineers together to find out how this could ever happen.

• How exactly are you trying to connect the computers to access the printer?
• Were you able to see any error code/ error message with this issue?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?

Method 1: Turn off the Airplane mode

• Press Windows key on the keyboard
• Click on Settings window
• Go to Network icon.
• Choose Network & Internet category.
• The second setting on the left column is Airplane mode.
• Turn it Off

Method 2: I suggest you to refer to the Microsoft support article and check if it helps.
