    Fn-lock not working Solution


    Hi everyone. I have been searching for the solution to this problem after my latest 2020 bios update on HP windows 10 pro. But nothing worked. So, I was just checking the BIOS settings I found the solution.

    My Device: HP PROBOOK G65 windows 10 pro.

    Solution :

    1: Shutdown your laptop and wait for 5 seconds.

    2: Start your laptop and press the Esc key to get into the startup menu.

    3: Press f10 key to get into BIOS settings.

    4: Go to the ADVANCE tab.

    5: Look for System Settings.

    6: Look for fn key operation and set it to the AUTO and you are done.


    After setting it to AUTO you will be able to toggle between Fn keys and multimedia keys by pressing fn+fn-lock keys combination.


    I hope this will help. because I am searching for this solution for like a month but I never read the above solution.

    Laptop FN Lock?

    My boss has a Sony Vaio VGN-AR190G, it seems like FN lock is on, because when he types certain letters that have numbers when pushed with the function key, it types numbers instead of letters. I do not even see a function lock key on this keyboard. I'm not really sure what to do. I've tried googling the issue but haven't come up with a solution. There was a wireless keyboard plugged into the laptop for awhile, I checked that one for a FN lock key and it doesn't have one either.

    Are you sure it's not the num lock rather than FN lock? Sounds like num lock to me.

    that is what fn does, num lock turns the number pad on or off yes - but it only matters for a dedicated number pad. those are normally arrows when turned off.
