Windows 10: Folder Art Problem

Maybe someone can help me. I have Windows 10. I have all my music files organized in folders, and there's a lot of them, believe me. I'm in the habit of dressing up the folder's cover with an appropriate picture. But an ongoing, and very irritating problem I have is that quite often, after I've opened the folder and done work on it's contents, I'll either have lost the cover art picture or it's changed to some other unrelated picture. I keep the picture in the folder, so it's not a problem restoring it through properties, but it is infuriating. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens

I'm trying to organise my music collection in Windows 10 from an external drive which will eventually be passed on to a NAS for streaming through my hifi.

I've found that the art(jpg) associated with a particular album is not displayed on the folder cover containing the album yet other art appears on other album folders.

All folders has the art work associated with the particular album within the album folder.

I've tried to paste new jpegs to no avail.

I've tried customising the folder and still nothing.

Album Art Folders

Is there a way of seeing album art without the folder wrapped around it? I am using Windows 10 pro and I am not asking how to add album art to a folder, all my folders have album art its just I want to see the art without the left hand side being obscured
by the folder flap.

I'm sure in previous Windows the folder wasn't so intrusive

I think WMP stores the album art in the folder with the music files but does not embed the album art in the actual file. iTunes does something similar but stores the album art in a database instead of in a flat file structure.



Just to make it clear, the problem is that the album art is not embedded in the music files.



There are several things that you can do:

• Load the album art onto the phone as images and link these to each album (not ideal as it requires quite a bit of work and the images need to remain on the phone and in the same location)
• Google "embed album art mp3" and download an application that can embed the album art.
• Import your music into iTunes, add the album art, and the convert to AAC (iTunes Plus) format which embeds the album art.
